With his creative home rooted in new-age folk, Max views and explores the world through many lenses, imbuing song and lyric with a wandering spirit and intangible freeness.
Max released his first full-length album Sojourns in June of 2022. Through Sojourns' cascading arc are glimpses of the formative moments of guiding turbulence and spectrum of influence from americana to electronica.
He is currently based in Lethbridge, Alberta, Treaty 7 Territory, and splits performance time between solo sets on keyboard or acoustic guitar, and sets with his band.
With the help of friends and collaborators, the Minimums (Joel Gray - guitar, Richard Charlton - bass, Chris Morden - drums), Max brings new life and energy to his music while capturing the humanity and togetherness of all present.
Vestiges is a rite of passage; an echo of our collective wisdom, a tribute to our fore-family and an acknowledgement of the inseparable confluence. Born of youthful epiphanies and wielding a sophic nonchalance, it wholeheartedly offers a revealing look into the lasting power and influence of our personal and collective histories.
Navigating the common ground between progressive classic rock, folk, and Romantic era art music, this effort delivers an impactful message enshrined in colourful but relatable soundscapes.
Released August 2019
